Kirk Harland

Kirk Harland is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy at the University of Leeds.  His primary research interests are the investigation of changing demographic trends and the associated impacts on the provision of services in the education and health sectors. He is currently working on a framework for microsimulation and a new version of the GAM cluster hunter, originally developed by Prof Stan Openshaw.

Following the completion of his first degree Kirk worked on large commercial spatial modelling projects for GMAP Consulting Ltd before returning to study for his PhD in spatial modelling and education planning.  Following the completion of his PhD he joined the Health and Social Care Information Centre of the NHS as a Principal Information Analyst before taking on the role of Head of Clinical Indicator Development.
