John Stillwell is Professor of Migration and Regional Development at the School of Geography, University of Leeds. His research interests include internal and international population migration, geographical information systems (GIS), and regional development and planning. Professor Stillwell is Director of the Centre for Interaction Data Estimation and Research (CIDER) and Editor of Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy.
As the national coordinator of the ESRC’s Understanding Population Trends and Processes UPTAP programme (2005-2009), Professor Stillwell has overseen a variety of demographic projects by researchers in different disciplines across the UK and has organised the dissemination of results within and beyond the academic community. He is committed to demonstrating the relevance and practical importance of geographical research.
